Pollinator Oasis Privacy Policy

Your garden data has a purpose. We believe you should understand what information makes Pollinator Oasis work, why we use it, and what choices you have.

1. Who we are

Pollinator Oasis LLC (“Pollinator Oasis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Pollinator Oasis mobile application, website, and related services.

Pollinator Oasis is designed to help people care for their gardens, mason bees, and other pollinators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who helps us operate the service, and how you can manage or delete your information.

Crown Bees is affiliated with Pollinator Oasis LLC and supports certain linked commerce, bee-care, and customer-service activities.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information reasonably needed to provide, secure, and improve the features you choose to use.

Account information

When you create or use a Pollinator Oasis account, we may collect your name, email address, account identifier, authentication and recovery information, account preferences, and other profile information you choose to provide.

Firebase helps us authenticate accounts securely and supports features such as account access, recovery, and push notifications.

Garden and pollinator information

You may choose to create records about your garden and pollinators. These records may include:

  • Plants, crops, fruit trees, varieties, and growing areas
  • Garden, orchard, landscape, container, or raised-bed information
  • Bloom observations and expected bloom timing
  • Bee species, cocoon inventory, and release activity
  • Bee houses, nesting materials, and nesting observations
  • Harvest information and cocoon counts
  • Seasonal tasks, reminders, notes, and journal entries
  • Adult-entered Bee Buddies information
  • Other garden or pollinator information you choose to provide

We use this information to help organize your season and provide more relevant garden, bloom, weather, and mason bee guidance.

Location information

With your permission, Pollinator Oasis may request your precise device location. You may instead enter a city or ZIP or postal code, or you may decline location access.

We use location information to provide local weather, growing degree day calculations, bloom guidance, emergence guidance, bee-release recommendations, and other seasonal information.

You can change location permissions through your device settings.

Weather and environmental information

Pollinator Oasis uses weather and environmental information from providers such as Open-Meteo and the U.S. National Weather Service.

When you request local weather or seasonal guidance, the location needed for that request may be sent to the applicable weather provider. We may combine weather information with your garden, bee, and location information to provide more useful guidance.

Notifications and communications

If you enable push notifications, we may use your notification preferences and an app-installation or push token to deliver the alerts and reminders you request.

If you voluntarily enable text messages, we collect your mobile phone number, SMS consent status, notification preferences, and message-delivery information. Text messages may include account verification, bee-care, garden, weather, seasonal, or reminder notifications.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You may reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance.

We do not sell mobile phone numbers or SMS consent information. We do not share this information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.

We use service providers such as Twilio only to transmit and support messages on our behalf, not for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Subscription information

Pollinator Oasis offers a Free version of the app. Pollinator Oasis Plus is intended to be available as an automatically renewing annual subscription through supported app stores.

When Plus purchasing is available, Apple or Google may provide us with purchase identifiers, subscription status, renewal or expiration information, and refund or revocation information. Apple and Google process app-store payments, and Pollinator Oasis does not receive your complete payment-card number from them.

Technical information

We may receive technical information needed to operate and secure Pollinator Oasis, including:

  • App version
  • Device and operating-system type
  • Language and regional settings
  • Internet Protocol address received by our servers
  • Authentication, security, and request logs
  • Error and performance information generated while operating the service
  • Push-notification delivery information

Pollinator Oasis does not currently include a third-party advertising service in the mobile app.

Support communications

If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, the content of your message, screenshots, troubleshooting details, and other information you choose to provide.

Please do not send passwords, complete payment-card numbers, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information through support email or text messages.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create, authenticate, recover, and secure Pollinator Oasis accounts
  • Save and synchronize your garden and pollinator records
  • Provide garden, bloom, weather, growing degree day, and seasonal features
  • Provide mason bee release, nesting, harvest, storage, and cocoon-care guidance
  • Manage tasks, reminders, journals, inventory, and observations
  • Determine whether an account has Free or Plus access
  • Deliver communications and notifications you request
  • Provide customer support
  • Troubleshoot errors and improve reliability
  • Protect Pollinator Oasis and its users from fraud, misuse, and security threats
  • Enforce our Terms of Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

Pollinator Oasis guidance is educational and informational. We do not use your garden or bee information to make decisions about employment, credit, insurance, housing, or similar significant matters.

4. Companies that help us operate Pollinator Oasis

Like most small applications, Pollinator Oasis relies on trusted service providers.

These providers currently include:

  • Firebase, which supports account authentication and push notifications
  • Google Cloud Run, which operates our application service
  • Directus, which stores approved app content and customer app records
  • Open-Meteo and the U.S. National Weather Service, which provide weather information
  • Twilio, which delivers text messages when you choose to receive them
  • Resend, which supports operational email
  • Apple and Google, which distribute the app and process app-store subscriptions
  • Shopify and Crown Bees, which handle product and service commerce

These providers may receive information only as reasonably needed to perform services for us, comply with law, protect their systems, or fulfill their agreements with us.

We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. We also do not share personal information for another company’s independent marketing or targeted advertising.

5. Crown Bees, Shopify, and connected services

Pollinator Oasis may link to or work with Crown Bees products and services, including Harvest Service, Bee Buyback, Bee Buddies, educational resources, and product recommendations.

When you purchase a Crown Bees product or service, Shopify, Crown Bees, and their payment, shipping, and fulfillment providers handle the related transaction information. This may include your order, payment, shipping, refund, fulfillment, tax, and customer-service records.

Pollinator Oasis may receive limited identifiers or order-status information when needed to verify an eligible purchase or provide a connected app feature. Crown Bees and Shopify commerce records remain separate from your Pollinator Oasis garden and app-account records.

Deleting your Pollinator Oasis account does not automatically delete Crown Bees or Shopify commerce records.

6. How long we keep information

We retain personal information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide, secure, and support Pollinator Oasis.

When you submit a verified account-deletion request, we complete the deletion within 30 days. Limited copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 days. Backup copies are not used for ordinary business operations.

We may retain certain transaction, tax, accounting, fulfillment, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or legally required records for longer when reasonably necessary.

We may also retain aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.

7. Account deletion

You may permanently delete your Pollinator Oasis account and associated app data.

In the app, go to:

Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete your account

You may also request deletion without reinstalling the app by visiting:

You may also email support@pollinatoroasis.com from the email address associated with your account.

We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request. We will confirm when deletion is completed.

Deleting your account is permanent, not merely a deactivation. It removes your Pollinator Oasis account and the app records associated with it, subject to the limited retention described above.

Deleting the Pollinator Oasis account does not:

  • Automatically cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription
  • Automatically create a subscription refund
  • Automatically delete Crown Bees or Shopify transaction and fulfillment records

You should cancel an active subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play before deleting your account. Refund requests are handled under the rules and processes of the store that processed the purchase.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Receive a copy of certain information
  • Withdraw consent when processing is based on consent
  • Object to or restrict certain uses
  • Appeal certain decisions about a privacy request
  • Opt out of qualifying sales, sharing, or targeted advertising

These rights vary by location and may be subject to legal exceptions. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

You may also:

  • Change location and push-notification permissions through your device settings
  • Change available notification preferences within Pollinator Oasis
  • Reply STOP to unsubscribe from text messages
  • Use an email unsubscribe link when one is provided
  • Contact support@pollinatoroasis.com with a privacy request

9. Children and Bee Buddies

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Pollinator Oasis account.

Bee Buddies participation involving children must be created and controlled by an adult account holder. Children do not hold independent Pollinator Oasis or Bee Buddies accounts.

If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us at support@pollinatoroasis.com so we can review and address the situation.

10. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No internet, mobile, or electronic-storage system can guarantee absolute security.

11. International processing

Pollinator Oasis and its service providers may process information in locations different from where you live.

When required by applicable law, we use appropriate measures designed to protect personal information transferred between jurisdictions.

12. Third-party links

Pollinator Oasis may contain links to Crown Bees, Shopify, educational resources, videos, app marketplaces, and other third-party websites or services.

Those services have their own privacy practices. This Privacy Policy applies to Pollinator Oasis and does not replace the privacy policies of those third parties.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Pollinator Oasis will continue to grow, and we may update this Privacy Policy as our features, providers, or legal obligations change.

When we update the policy, we will post the revised version and change the effective or “last updated” date above. When required by law, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
